India’s thali culture is known to all. Eating together from the same plate and sharing meals is driven by the idea of inducing a community feeling among the people. Although you’ve got individual portions of food on restaurant menus these days, there is often a section called sharing platters too. These usually contain a large amount of variety and quantity of food that can be shared among a set of people. In fact, if you do a quick Google search, you’ll see that there are plenty of restaurants in the country that particularly offer thalis. If not, they have the option of thali in their menus.
I, for one, love the idea of a thali. The biggest advantage is that you get a plethora of options to eat and you can savour everything from starters to desserts in one package. Additionally, you don’t have to go through the struggle of opting one or two dishes individually from the menu either. And now, the good news is that you can even get rewarded for finishing your thali. Recently, food blogger @yumyumindia shared a reel on his Instagram handle featuring a huge north Indian thali with an abundance of food. Here, take a look:

Known as the Iron Man Thali, this huge platter is being served at Ardor 2.1, a restaurant in Delhi’s Connaught Place market. Consisting of everything, from kebabs and tikkas for appetisers to thick and rich curries along with a basket of assorted breads and as well as buckets of rice, there is still more to the list.
In the video, you can see that there are several kinds of beverages too, being brought on the table and the food trail finally ends with two bowls of gulab jamuns. The restaurant has challenged its customers to finish this huge thali and take away an even bigger prize money. If two people are able to finish this thali in a stipulated time of 30 minutes, they can take home a whopping sum of 8.5 lakhs!
The video has garnered over one million views in the past few days and is creating a rage on the Internet, with some commenting on the reel with, “Hn aur baad mai hospital mai kaam ayenge 8.5 lac (sic)”.
Whether you can finish this thali or not is something that we'll be up to you to decide. But until then, why not create a thali experience at home with these yummy delicacies.
