Is there anything more comforting than wrapping our hands around a piping hot cup of chai? A chai lover would say, no. No matter what day, season or situation there might be, one cup of chai with some tidbits to munch on can set everything right for a chai lover. Speak to a chai connoisseur and he’ll even tell you ten different ways of brewing a cup of tea. Be it with less or no milk, more milk, a hint of spices, some would prefer less or no sweet, and so on. But the classic ingredients for a desi chai remains the same - water, tea leaves, sugar and milk. But have you tried the latest recipe of chai that comes with oodles of butter? Yes, you read that right.

Recently, a video of a street vendor is going viral wherein he is making ‘butter chai’. Shared by Instagram handle @eatthisagra, the Reel is about how he gives a completely new spin to the staple desi chai. The short video begins with the vendor boiling some milk. Then he adds tea leaves, sugar, masala and finishes with a whole blob of butter in the chai! After stirring and boiling it well, he serves the chai in a kulhad (earthen pot) topped with some haldi. It has already attracted garnered one million views, about 30k likes and hundreds of comments. While it looked good to some, most people were disappointed with the creation. They didn’t leave any chance to show it too as they were quick to leave sarcastic comments. "He could have added cheese as well" read one comment while another person wrote “Jeere piyaz ka tadka b laga de isme.” Many people have also said that "they would never try this."

Even though this butter chai has seen many mixed reactions, what do you have to say about it? Would you try it? Let us know.
