No matter what, for many no Sunday in Delhi is spent without relishing the delicious langar at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Especially during the winter season, the ‘garma garam roti’, along with the comforting dal would be enough for me to turn my weekend around. The architectural excellence, the vibe of the place and the decadent langar combine to make my day fulfilling. If you are a frequent visitor to the gurudwara like me, you know what would excite me most - the langar. The foodie in me anxiously waits for the first serving of dal, roti and sabzi to dig into in no time. Although simple, the food served with utmost love and the spirit of service is incomparable to all other lavish delicacies.
Apart from the taste, another thing that amazed me on my first visit to the gurudwara was the quantity of food served and the labour that goes into the preparation. From making the food to serving it, langar surely demands a high level of dedication to serving thousands of devotees from around the world. However, with the changing times, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib of Delhi has now embraced technology in the form of an automatic roti-making machine. Take a look:
The Instagram food blogger Amar Sirohi, who goes by the username @foodie_incarnate, uploaded this video on Instagram. In the video, we can see a man adding dough to the machine, which then does its job to roll out perfectly flat and round rotis in no time. The video was uploaded four days ago and has garnered 702k views, around 68k likes and hundreds of comments.
Amazed netizens have shared their thoughts on this new update on the gurudwara premises. A user has commented, “Incredible. Though these come out of machines, they still taste amazing. That's the beauty of Indian culture and positive places. <3”, while another said, “Waheguruji Ka Khalsa Waheguruji Ki Fateh 🙏🙏❤️❤️”.
So, the next time you visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, don’t forget to relish a delicious meal at the langar. Also, let us know how it went.
