The use of vermicelli is a reflection of generation-to-generation culinary traditions. Vermicelli dishes are often prepared using family recipes and techniques, which gives the food a distinctive flavour.  One kind of thin pasta that works well for breakfast is vermicelli. The following are several breakfast recipes that can be prepared with vermicelli:

1.  Upma: A mixture of spices, sautéed vegetables, and roasted vermicelli create the flavorful and savoury Vermicelli Upma dish.   A mixture of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, black gramme (urad dal), and green chilies are used to season the food, giving it a savoury, subtly spicy taste.  The nutty flavour of the roasted vermicelli adds to the dish's overall richness. Furthermore, adding ghee or oil to the sautéing process intensifies the Upma's aromatic flavour. A nice blend of textures and flavours is produced by including vegetables like chopped beans, peas, and carrots. These veggies give the meal sweetness, crunch, and nutritional value. Asafoetida (hing) and turmeric are commonly used to season upma, which results in a flavorful and well-balanced dish.

2. Poha: Roasted vermicelli noodles are used to make the tasty and well-liked Indian breakfast dish Vermicelli Poha, also called Seviyan Upma.  When roasted, vermicelli adds a subtle nutty flavour that gives the meal a delightful depth. A savoury and aromatic base for the dish is created by tempering mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies in ghee or oil. Vegetables like peas, carrots, and green bell peppers are frequently added to vermicelli poha to add freshness and a slightly crunchy texture. The meal is seasoned with common spices like asafoetida, coriander, and turmeric, which give it a hearty, earthy flavour. Fresh cilantro, or coriander leaves, chopped finely, gives the finished dish a vibrant splash of colour and herbal freshness. The flavours of the veggies and spices are absorbed by the vermicelli noodles.

3. Pudding: Seviyan Kheer, another name for vermicelli pudding in Indian cooking, is a sugary, creamy treat that is made with thin noodles of vermicelli, milk and sugar. It is frequently flavoured with cardamom and topped with nuts. Rich and sweet, vermicelli custard has a creamy texture from the milk and sugar combination. Cardamom enhances the overall flavour of the custard by adding a warm, aromatic flavour.  The texture of the vermicelli noodles is slightly chewy, and the crunch of the nuts—almonds, cashews, or pistachios—provides a delightful contrast. Vermicelli custard is a warm or room temperature dessert that tastes good on many different kinds of days.

4. Pancakes: Pancakes made with vermicelli have a delightful crunch from their exterior's light and crispy texture. Vermicelli pancakes have a delightful contrast between their crispy outside and soft, chewy inside. The pancakes' use of vermicelli noodles gives them a subtle, adaptable flavour that goes well with a variety of ingredients. Vegetables and herbs can be combined to add layers of flavour and freshness to vermicelli pancakes. These pancakes are frequently served with a dipping sauce, which adds savoury, sweet, or tangy notes to the overall flavour. Vegetables provide vital vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibre to the dish of vermicelli pancakes. They have a pleasing textural experience due to the combination of their crispy exterior and soft interior.

5. Idli:  Vermicelli is used in place of rice in this version of the traditional South Indian dish called idli. Due to its mild and neutral flavour, vermicelli idli is a flexible dish that goes well with a wide range of side dishes. Vermicelli idli has a light and fluffy texture when cooked correctly. The idli's soft, spongy texture is a result of the addition of curd (yoghurt) and baking soda or eno (fruit salt). The idli's overall flavour may be enhanced by a faint nutty undertone, which varies depending on the type of vermicelli used. The flavours of the spices and seasonings added to the batter are readily absorbed by the vermicelli idli. Because of this, it's a flexible base that can be tailored to fit specific tastes.

6. Omelette: Vermicelli omelette is a tasty and filling dish that combines the savoury flavour of vermicelli noodles with the richness of eggs.  The vermicelli noodles give the omelette a distinctive textural element by giving it a slight chewiness that contrasts with the fluffy texture of the eggs. In order to add layers of flavour and a pleasing aroma, aromatic ingredients like onions, garlic, and green chilies are frequently used to enhance omelettes. The omelette is a versatile dish that can be customised with different ingredients, such as vegetables, herbs, and spices, depending on personal preferences. Because of its cosy feel, the vermicelli omelette is a well-liked option for a substantial and satisfying brunch or breakfast. A meal that is well-balanced and comprises a variety of nutrients, such as carbohydrates, proteins.
