The soan papdi enjoys some major attention during Diwali festivities. But recently netizens were left shocked when they found a video of their favourite festive mithai being made in an unhygienic way. A video clip surfaced showing men preparing Soan Papdi in questionable conditions, sparking strong viewer backlash.

The footage begins with a large mound of Soan Papdi dough, followed by one man taking a portion outside. He presses it flat on a sheet and applies gas to heat it. After treating the raw Soan Papdi with oil or ghee, it’s placed on a wall and kneaded until it achieves a glossy texture. Later, a group of men are seen stretching the dough into soft, elongated threads. Many viewers expressed concerns over the apparent lack of hygiene in the preparation process.
