Gujiya Recipes For Holi 2022: Our festivals bring joy, love for food and other indulgences. Holi is no different. The celebration of colours is celebrated with so much enthusiasm and energy all over India. But, of course, the gujiyas, dishes, drinks and parties butcher the diet you have been on for days and fill us with the guilt of abandoning the fit side of ours. But do not worry because there is an alternative to this. You can easily have homemade and low-calorie gujiyas during Holi. This is healthier than commercially processed gujiyas, usually available in the market. 

But before digging into the recipes, let's learn about their origin

Gujiya in North India, Pedukiya in Jharkhand and Bihar), karanji in Maharashtra or Kajjikayalu in Telugu are sweet, deep-fried dumplings made with maida or suji stuffed with a mixture of dried fruits sweetened khoya and fried in ghee or low-temperature oil. White Chocolate and Almond Gujiya

INGREDIENTS FOR DOUGH AND FILLING 

  1. 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup of ghee
  3. 1/2 cup water
  4. 1/4 cup of desiccated coconut
  5. 1/2 cup of almonds
  6. 1 tbsp jaggery and white chocolate
  7. A small spoon of green cardamom powder

HOW TO MAKE ALMOND, WHITE CHOCOLATE GUJIYA?

  1. Add all ingredients mentioned and knead in a soft dough. It's advisable to let the dough stay for around half-hour by covering it in a cloth.
  2. Take a bowl, mix coconut, almond, and white chocolate, and add jaggery as per taste.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls. Now make Rotis and ensure your flatbreads are thick. Don't overstuff the roti while adding the filling. Now with the help of water, seal the edges of the roti.

OATS GUJIYA

Ingredients for Oats Gujia

  1. Refined flour (maida) - 2 cups
  2. Oil - 3 tablespoons
  3. For stuffing
  4. Oats - 1 cup
  5. Chopped dates - 1/2 cup
  6. Chopped cashew nuts - 10 (chopped)
  7. Chopped almonds - 10 (chopped)
  8. Chopped walnuts - 10
  9. Raisins - 20
  10. Roasted sesame seeds - 1 tsp

How to make Oats Gujia?

Step- 1: Take a bowl of refined flour. Add three large spoons of oil and then knead the dough (add water as needed).

Step- 2: Take oats, dates, cashews, almonds, walnuts, raisins and sesame seeds in a bowl to make a stuffing.

Step- 3: Now, put a little oil on your palm and take the vine by giving each part a round shape.

Step-4: Now, make the gujia while pressing and filling the stuffing with light hands. Now close the edges with a bit of water. Then cover the Gujia with a moist cloth.

Step- 5: Now heat the oil, add 5-6 gujia in hot oil and deep fry it. Now keep Gujia aside for two to three minutes.

Step-6: Your healthy oats Gujia is ready to be served immediately.

Sooji Gujiya

Gujiya is traditionally made of dried milk (mawa) and is prepared during Holi. Gujiya is a famous sweet typically filled with nuts, sugar and khoya. But here are some preparation items needed to prepare this healthy sooji Gujiya instead of Mawa, besides jaggery powder and dry fruits. These components' nutritional health benefits: Sooji contains a blend of protein, fibre, folate, thiamine, and riboflavin. At the same time, dry fruits contain vitamins K and A, beta-carotene, fibre and potassium. And jaggery has magnesium, potassium and iron, which is beneficial for your health.

How To Make Sooji Gujiyas At Home?

  1. Fill the stuffing made with dry fruits, jaggery powder and sooji.
  2. Seal the Gujiyas' sides with flour paste.
  3. Fry them in ghee, once turned light brown, put off the gas. Serve them.
