If your timeline has been full of the viral banana leaf idli from Mumbai, you're probably looking for the spot that serves it. The low-key joint known as Avantika Chennai Cafe serves up some unique delicacies which put a spin on classic South Indian dishes

This eatery serves the viral banana leaf spot idli, a delicious variation that has been making waves. Unlike the traditional steamed version, these idlis are fried in a pan. The preparation involves placing two banana leaves on the pan, coating them with ghee, and spreading a generous layer of veggie masala.

Another layer of masala is sprinkled over the first. Finally, a layer of idli batter mixed with kalonji is added on top. The idlis are pan-fried with additional ghee until they’re perfectly cooked. Once ready, they're served with three different chutneys and sambar. This dish truly lives up to its hype, offering a flavorful twist on a beloved South Indian classic.
