Every meal ends with a bite of it and so if you have have visited the city you would notice that there are sweet shops at every corner and trust you me you wont be compromised for the quality. 

And seeing the love of sweets the city also sees sweet shops which are serving Kolkata for more than 100 Years. Let’s not forget that before the Portuguese brought chena or cottage cheese Bengal savoured sweets that were made of were mainly made from jaggery and coconut something like  "Naru" and "Moya". Sen Mahasay 1897

Established in the year 1897, this shop is known for Monohora, Aporupa, Abar Khabo. Founded by Sri Ashutosh sen, this shop is more than 100 years old. The Ratabi Sandesh here is named by the great poet Sri Rabindranath Tagore himself. Today almost 120 year, it’s run by the 4th generation. The mihidana (Mihi meaning fine, and Dana, meaning grain) here is extremely famous. They also make seasonal sseets using real fruit juices which gives the sweets a unique taste.

Chittaranjan Mistanna Bhandar Pvt Limited 1907

 

This Bengali sweetmeat established by Hiralal Ghosh shop in North Kolkata, is very famous mishti-doi and madhuparka. Run by the 6th generation, their juicy nolen gurer roshogolla are must to try during winter. This shop is perfect to pamper yur sweet teeth.

Once you are the sweets might appeal you but the price might pinch your pocket. Also given the age of the shop this one is much cleaner and more organized. Famous for it’s roshogolla, the founder was fondly called 'Nobin Moira' of Bagbazar. The shop that started in 1866, the famous creations of this shop are "Abaar Khaabo", "Dedo Sondesh" and "Baikuntha Bhog"(both of which use "Kacha Pak" as the base ingredient), the well known "Kastura Pak". Unlike other places you get "Aata (custard apple) and "Kathaal (jackfruit) Sondesh here.

This heritage sweet shop known for their jolbhora, is one of the iconic shops in the city. Known for their passion for innovative sweet making, the shop is fine example of Bengal's great tradition of sweets. The Mullick's Nolen Gurer "Guli Sandesh" are hot sellers. With a 130+ year history, this shop is still proudly serving the best in the city
