Teacher's Day is a unique occasion to show teachers how much people value them. Celebrations are held to recognise their exceptional efforts in various fields, education, health, sports and much more. Unlike other International Days, this one is mostly observed on different dates by different countries. For example, since 1915, September 11 has been observed as Teachers' Day in Argentina in remembrance of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. Since 1962, September 5, the birthday of India's second president, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, has been observed as Teacher's Day. In observance of World Teachers' Day, which was instituted by UNESCO in 1994, numerous nations commemorate their own Teachers' Day on October 5.
