Mouni Roy just got married to long-time boyfriend Suraj Nambiar. Ever since she tied the knot, the Indian television actress has been travelling the world, giving us vacay goals. From her tempting pahadon ki maggi in Kashmir to her delicious Asian indulgence in Sri Lanka, the petite actress has quite an appetite and taste for food. She was also seen cooking something at her Dubai-based businessman’s home a while back. Seems like the actor cum dancer is now set to savour her sweet tooth.

Mouni Roy recently shared an image of a heart-shaped cake on her Instagram story and we are loving it. The actress received a piñata cake as a surprise from a friend we’re guessing as she had tagged on her story @jiamustafa. She goes on to say, “Thankiii for the yum yum!”. Well, since it is a red, heart-shaped piñata, we’re getting a little curious if Mouni Roy actually smashed it and broke someone’s heart (quite literally). Wondering what we are talking about? Here, take a look.

Piñata cakes are made in such a manner that they need to be smashed to be eaten. The concept of these cakes originates from North America. The word piñata translates to pot in Spanish and the idea is to break the cake with a hammer so that the candies and other goodies stuffed inside the cake come out. The old tradition back in the US was that the pot would be hung from a wall at a certain height and you’d have to smash it with a blindfold. These days, piñata cakes have become quite common during birthdays and anniversaries and are referred to as Khoi bags too sometimes.

The hollow cake is stuffed with all things tasty that come out as a surprise one the person hits the dome-shaped cake with the hammer. The outer layer comes with a sponge cake-like texture but these days it is a hard shell which is edible. It could be made from chocolate, strawberry or any other flavour you like. These cakes can also have your picture printed on them.

If you wish to get such cakes made, there are several bakeries in Delhi that do it on a customized basis such as Bakingo, Monginis Cakes etc. Going for your regular cake? This chocolate cake recipe can be perfect then.
