Come summers and we lose all motivation to step outside, thankfully there are plenty of activities that you can do to keep yourself entertained indoors, and no we don’t mean binging movies on Netflix. Summer is the time to guzzle down cool, fruity drinks. Be it the strawberry shake or aam panna, there are options galore. But these summer fruits are actually very versatile, so when you are not using them to make sharbats or coolers, you can actually use them to make some yummy, colourful popsicles.

Popsicles or ice pops are liquid-based frozen treat, in which blended fruits and sugar are frozen with a stick. Once it is nicely frozen, it is demoulded and enjoyed, pretty much like a Kulfi. Sometimes, you can also add some cream to the blend, to give it a more ‘ice-cream-like flavour’, but if you like to keep it light and juicy, we have just the right recipe for you.

Summer season in India is associated with many different kinds of fruits, and while we may call Mango, the king of fruits, we all know that summers are quite incomplete without the melons. Watermelon is a giant, green-coloured melon, with reddish-pink flesh. Did you know more than 95 percent of watermelon is just ‘water’, which is why it is called watermelon. This is one of the sweetest fruits of summertime, and is loved by all.

This watermelon popsicle recipe is so easy that you can actually bring your kids in the kitchen too for some help. It could prove to be a fun little bonding activity amongst yourself. You do not need an army of ingredients either. All you need are some cubed, seedless watermelon, some lime juice for the contrast in flavour and some sugar. Grab a spoon and just remove all the tiny black seeds from the watermelon chunks.

Place the watermelon cubes lime juice, sugar in a blender. Blend until it is smooth. Now transfer the mixture into popsicle moulds. Then freeze them until they are firm. This should take about 4-5 hours.

That’s it, remove the popsicles from moulds and enjoy chilled.

Here’s the complete recipe. Try it soon and let us know your thoughts.
