There’s something about evening time that unleashes a glutton in you. Now there are only so many permutations and combinations you can use in your sandwich to make it more exciting, eventually to appease your cravings, you need something more loaded, whether you like to keep it greasy or fried or healthy, the choice is yours. Beyond our usual suspects like samosas, pakodas and vadas, Chinese favourites like noodles and spring rolls are also incredibly popular during the evening. It would interest you to know that many of these dishes are impossible to trace in China. Sure, there are noodles in China, but not the way in which we make them. This fusion cuisine that we can proudly call our own is also sometimes referred to as ‘Indo-Chinese’ cuisine, and comprises so much more than just noodles. Here are some interesting Veg Chinese snacks with Indian tadka that you will definitely enjoy. You can make them for the evening, or serve them at parties too. They are just too good to miss.  

Chinese Bhel

Bhel, for the unversed, is an Indian snack that is typically made with puffed rice, papdi, peanuts, chopped chillies, onions and sev. It is tossed together and served at regular, room temperature. This inexpensive snack is a crowd favourite, and this Chinese bhel will be no less. Made with combining half-done noodles, capsicum, carrots, tamarind chutney schezwan chutney et al, this bhel screams indulgence.

Chinese Samosa

Move over regular samosa, stuff your samosa with yummy Hakka noodles, schezwan sauce, carrots, cabbage and capsicum for a wholesome deal. Pair it with any hot and sweet dip you desire and munch away. It has blockbuster written all over it.

Got leftover idlis, why toss them away, when you can toss it up with a  variety of hot and sour sauces, and crispy veggies. Chinese Schezwan Dosa

If you think about it, dosa is essentially a crepe that can be reimagined in 200 different ways. So why stick to your regular aloo masala, when you can give ita  hot, ‘Indo-Chinese twist’. Just throw in a dash of schezwan sauce, and some ceese if you are feeling bold and wrap it all up inside a thin, delish dosa.  

Noodle Frankie  

Frankie, is an Indian-style wrap invented in Mumbai. A typical Frankie is made of a chapati, which could be filled with a range of chutneys, vegetables, or meat.
