It’s the season of celebrations in India, and the month of October seems to be packed with one festival after the other. Just recently, we wrapped up Navratri, Durga Puja and Dussehra, and today (October 13) we are celebrating Karwa Chauth.

This Hindu festival celebrates the bond between married couples. Women in many parts of India mark the day by observing a nirjala fast (vrat), praying for the good health and long life of their husband. The preparations for Karwa Chauth start a day earlier, when women gather to apply mehendi and decide on their outfits. And our Bollywood stars are no different when it comes to celebrating this festival.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra, for instance, is one actor who enjoys every festival and celebrates it with a lot of fun and fervour. She also shares glimpses from her celebrations on Instagram. And so, every year, we see the actor, along with her friends, marking the day of Karwa Chauth with much enthusiasm. She applies mehendi with her family and friends from the industry, and does the puja in the evening with them. Keeping up with the tradition, this year too, the ladies gathered under one roof to enjoy the festive vibe and apply mehndi, and prepare for the day.

But that's not all. Shilpa also gave us a glimpse into her beautiful and wholesome sargi thali through one of her Insta stories. She took us through the thali and wished 'Happy Karwa Chauth' to all her fans and followers, while also thanking her mother-in-law. In the huge thali, we could see some mathri, feni (lachcha seviyan), milk cake, mithais, and loads of fruits. Besides, the food there was bangles, bindi, mehendi, and more. Take a look at Shilpa Shetty's sargi thali:

For the unversed, sargi is a traditional thali that mothers-in-law give to their daughters-in-law a night before or early morning on Karwa Chauth before sunrise. The thali includes makeup, jewellery, clothes, and foods that one consumes before sunrise, and fast throughout the day, until moonrise. When the moon rises, women perform puja and break their fast, followed by a grand feast. If you are observing Karwa Chauth vrat today, here are some delicious yet quick delicacies you can prepare and feast on after the vrat.

Happy Karwa Chauth, ladies!
