Mohan used some coffee-flavoured rum in his bowl of rasmalai! Mohan used the Old Monk Coffee Xo Premium Rum which has velvety, caramel notes.

Mohan uses a metal cocktail jigger glass to measure out 60 ml of the coffee-flavoured rum and mixes it with the dessert. He takes a bite and even sips some of the creamy syrup from the bowl! “Mazza aa gaya,” he quips. Tropical Fruit Infusion

One of the simplest yet most delightful uses of flavoured rum is to create a tropical fruit infusion. Choose your favourite fruits such as pineapple, mango, or passion fruit, and chop them into bite-sized pieces. Place the fruit in a large glass jar or bottle and pour in your preferred flavoured rum – coconut, mango, or banana rum works exceptionally well for this. Seal the jar and let it sit in a cool, dark place for at least a week, allowing the flavours to meld together. Once infused, you can enjoy the rum-soaked fruit on its own as a tasty snack.

Rum-infused Desserts

Flavoured rum is a fantastic addition to a wide range of desserts, adding depth and complexity to sweet treats. For example, you can use coconut rum to add a tropical twist to classic desserts like coconut cream pie or pineapple upside-down cake. Similarly, spiced rum can be used to enhance the flavour of rich chocolate desserts like brownies or truffles. Simply substitute a small amount of the liquid called for in the recipe with flavoured rum to infuse your desserts.

Rum Glazed Grilled Pineapple

Grilled pineapple is a classic summer treat, but when you add a rum glaze to the mix, it takes this dish to a whole new level of deliciousness. Start by slicing fresh pineapple into rings and brushing them lightly with a mixture of rum, brown sugar, and a splash of lime juice. Grill the pineapple over medium heat until caramelized and slightly charred, then brush with additional rum glaze before serving. The heat of the grill will intensify the flavours of the rum and sugar.

Rum-infused Caramel Sauce

Caramel sauce is a versatile condiment that can be drizzled over ice cream, cakes, or fruit for an indulgent touch. Adding flavoured rum to your homemade caramel sauce takes it to the next level, adding depth of flavour and a hint of warmth to the sweet sauce. To make the rum-infused caramel sauce, simply prepare your favourite caramel recipe, then stir in a generous splash of flavoured rum once the sugar has caramelised. Let the sauce cool slightly before serving to allow the flavours to meld together.

Rum-spiked BBQ Sauce

If you're a fan of bold, flavorful barbecue sauce, you'll love the addition of flavoured rum. The rich, complex flavours of rum add depth and complexity to homemade BBQ sauce, taking it from ordinary to extraordinary. Start with a basic BBQ sauce recipe and add a splash of your favourite flavoured rum – dark rum works particularly well here for its deep, molasses-like flavour. Simmer the sauce gently to allow the flavours to meld together, then brush it onto ribs, chicken, or pork chops before grilling or roasting for a boozy twist on the classic barbecue.

Rum-infused Seafood Marinade

Seafood and rum might not seem like an obvious pairing, but trust us – it works beautifully. The sweet, aromatic flavours of rum complement the delicate taste of seafood, adding depth and complexity to your dishes. For a simple yet flavorful seafood marinade, combine flavoured rum with ingredients like fresh lime juice, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. Marinate shrimp, scallops, or fish fillets in the mixture for at least 30 minutes before grilling, broiling, or sautéing.
