When the lights get dimmer and a note of Hedwig's theme starts playing in the background, we get excited the same way we used to get in 2001. It has been over 20 years since the first Harry Potter movie aired but every time we see Warner Brother’s logo, we can’t control our happiness. Can we? We have grown up watching Harry Potter movies and we will always love them. It made us believe in magic and introduced us to some magical creatures, characters, and of course food.
All Harry Potter lovers know what Butterbeer is but for those who don’t know, butterbeer was a popular beverage in the wizarding world. Often described as a ‘little bit like less-sickly butterscotch’, it was sold at The Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head Inn. It got first featured in ‘The Philosopher’s Stone'. I don’t know about you but I always looked forward to this drink and used to wonder if I can have it in reality. But it is available in the real world also!

Some believe that the idea of butterbeer might have derived from the old-age drink which was popular in medieval Europe, called buttered beer. Made of butter, nutmeg, cloves, sugar, eggs, and beer, this beverage made it to the Harry Potter series and stole our hearts in no time. The Three Broomsticks was one of the popular destinations in Hogsmeade where thisgolden beverage was served. The Three Broomstick's proprietor Madam Rosmerta used to brew a sweeter version of the drink, especially for the young wizards! Even today, butterbeer is served in several cafes and restaurants on a Harry Potter theme and is generally non-alcoholic for kids. It is believed to have been made with butterscotch syrup, soda water, cream soda, whipped cream, and caramel syrup.
