There’s no weekend party without some booze. But let’s put an end to basic beer, wine, and Breezer and do a little something extra to impress your guests for your next get-together. Here are three classic cocktail recipes that every party host should learn how to make. Whether you like them sweet or bitter, we’ve got your back.
Even if you aren’t hosting any parties, these are great to enjoy with just family or even solo. These cocktails are super simple and require only a few ingredients and at most ten minutes of your time.
Old Fashioned
This is for the whiskey lovers; it’s simple yet elegant and just oh-so-good.In a glass, muddle a white sugar cube and three dashes of bitters with a splash of soda. Add 60 mL of Bourbon and ice to fill the glass and stir. Garnish with an orange peel and a cherry stuck onto a toothpick.
And that’s it, you’ve got yourself an Old Fashioned.
Margarita
This is probably the most popular cocktail (it’s the National Drink of Mexico after all), it’s sweet, it’s salty and it gets the job done.
In a shaker add 10 mL of lime juice, 30 mL of triple sec and 45 mL of silver tequila, and some ice. Shake and pour in a chilled glass lined with salt and garnish with a slice of lime.
Bloody Mary
If you want to spice up your night, make this tomato juice cocktail which hits all the right savoury notes. In a cocktail mixer full of ice, combine 45 mL vodka, tomato juice, two dashes of Worcestershire sauce, one dash of hot pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Shake vigorously and strain and serve cold in a salt-rimmed glass. Garnish with a stalk of celery and olives skewered onto a toothpick.
