In addition to being one of the highest run scorers for India of all times, former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is also the poster boy of fitness. Virat’s journey into fitness has also been nothing short of an inspiration. In ‘Breakfast With Champions’, he told Gaurav Kapoor how he gave up his favourite butter chicken to achieve the body of a true athlete.
But that doesn’t mean the Delhi lad has shut doors to all of his favourite treats. Even though he avoids sugar, he does like to relish his favourite Gajar Ka Halwa sometimes, he said in an interview to Star Sports, when he was asked about his favourite dessert. He also added that along with Gajar Ka Halwa, he is also a big fan of Ragi Halwa, which is prepared at his home.
Ragi or finger millet is one of the most popular millets of India. In fact, in certain states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, its popularity surpasses that of wheat, since the climate and land is more conducive for the growth of ragi. Ragi is also packed with a treasure trove of many essential vitamins, antioxidants, as well as nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus.
It is also a decent source of plant-based protein and excellent source of fibre. Because it is so rich in fibre, it makes you feel full and thus keeps cravings at bay. Fibre is also good for the heart. Making healthy Ragi Halwa is very easy. You would be delighted to know that the halwa is also satvik in nature, so you can enjoy it during your fasts too for the added burst of energy.
