Celebrity weddings nowadays tend to be more limited and private affairs than ever before. While the trend a few years back was all about getting huge details of everything from the décor to the dining menus, now the focus is more on intimate celebrations and highlighting the food choices of the bride and groom. And Randeep Hooda, who recently got married to Lin Laishram at her hometown of Imphal, Manipur, proves this.

The couple tied the knot on November 29, 2023, but not too many images or coverage of the traditional Manipuri Meitei wedding ceremony made it to social media—except the select glimpses the couple gave through their Instagram. However, Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram also threw a wedding reception in Mumbai on December 11, 2023, and this one has made great waves over social media with the couple posting details as well as pictures.

Details from the Mumbai reception reveal that the menu at the reception was not only grand, but focused especially on the couple’s favourite dishes from Indian and Asian cuisines. Catered by Mumbai-based Blue Sea Catering, the reception started off with a sundowner event and then moved on to a vibrant dinner which included appetizers that were passed around, mini plates that were served, and grand food and dessert counters laden with Indian and Asian favourites.

The menu included Amritsari Chole Kulche, which is a Punjabi favourite now eaten across North India. Other North Indian dishes that were featured on the menu and reflect Randeep Hooda’s love for the cuisine well were Chaat, Lucknowi Galouti Kebabs (which were made fresh and served at a separate station), Makki Ki Roti paired with Sarson Ka Saag, Sindhi Dal Pakwan, and a scrumptious Jackfruit Dum Masala Biryani.

A wide range of dimsums, soups and dumplings were also available at the various counters, proving that Asian cuisine was highlighted at this event. Wood-fired pizzas were also on the menu. Before their reception made waves, Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram’s wedding reception invite also went viral because it was loaded with goodies like medjool dates, kesar tokri, anjeer kaju barfi, Thai spiced nuts and more.

Clearly, food was at the very core of this couple’s wedding reception from the invite to the actual dinner.
