A task force from Telangana's Commissioner of Food Safety has been inspecting various food establishments across Hyderabad, including cloud kitchens, dairy stores, mithai shops, and restaurants. On August 7, 2024, they visited Malakpet, where they found multiple violations at Al Saud Bait al Mandi. The team discovered a live cockroach infestation, improper covering and labelling of food items, and the use of synthetic food colours, which had to be discarded.

Officials observed that the doors and windows lacked proper insect-proof screens, failing to meet food safety standards. Additionally, food handlers were not wearing gloves, aprons, or head caps. Neither their medical fitness certificates nor the establishment's pest control records were available.

Similar violations were uncovered at Capital Multicuisine Restaurant in Malakpet on the same day. Officials noted the absence of medical fitness certificates and pest control records, along with a live cockroach infestation. Food handlers were not wearing proper attire, and doors and windows lacked insect-proof screens. Food storage was improper, and refrigerators were described as "very unhygienic." Instead of dustbins, garbage covers were used. The kitchen also showed signs of house flies and a "possible rat infestation."

Additionally, officials discarded synthetic food colours being used in biryanis and non-vegetarian dishes. Packaged bakery items like bread and buns sold on the premises lacked labels. On August 9, 2024, the task force visited MoonBean restaurant and bar in Malakpet, which was operating without a valid FSSAI license, as the previous one had expired in March 2024. Medical fitness certificates and pest control records were missing, and food handlers were not wearing hair caps or gloves.

The team discovered synthetic food colors, expired items like 5 kilos of ginger garlic paste, 800 grams of mushrooms, and a packet of milk. Some fridge items were uncovered and unlabeled, dustbins were left open without lids, and live cockroach infestations were found in the kitchen and storeroom.
