After a long day of work indulging in some quick titbits is the first thing that many of us like to do. Bread is the most common type of food that we like to choose simply because it can be anything you want. The versatility of the bread gave us enough room to experiment with it in various forms whether it is a simple butter-jam sandwich, cheese toast or pizza-bread. We just love them all.
When it comes to fusion, bread is the only ingredient that can be adapted as per any cuisine. Since we Indians have a weak spot for Indo-Chinese food, today, we bring you the recipe of cheesy schezwan bread. It is a perfect snack to devour when you are feeling hungry and want to eat something fulfilling. The sandwich contains fillings of crispy veggies along with a hearty mixture of cheese which will surely satiate you to bits. Preparing Chinese food at home can sometimes become quite a hassle but with these simple steps and easily available ingredients, you can make them in no time. So, here’s the recipe for your scrumptious delight.
Ingredients
- 2-4 slices of brown bread or any bread
- 1 medium size onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- ½ nos. green capsicum, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp corn kernels (parboiled)
- ½ tsp red chili flakes
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp schezwan sauce or red chilli sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- Cheese - grated (as required)
- Salt - to taste
- Oil as required
Preparations:
1. In a non-stick pan add a few drops of oil and heat it over medium heat. When the oil is hot enough add onion, capsicum and corn kernels. Sauté them for a couple of minutes.
2. Then in a bowl add the prepared veggies with carrot, chilli flakes, tomato ketchup, schezwan sauce and salt. Mix them well.
3. Lastly, add cheese and mix it well with other ingredients in the bowl.
4. Take a slice of bread and spread the mixture evenly to all the sides. If you like you can also sprinkle more grated cheese on top.
5. Cover it with another bread and gently apply pressure so that it sticks.
6. Grease and heat the same non-stick pan with butter. Then put the sandwich in the pan. Let it cook for 20-30 secs or until golden brown.
7. Make sure to flip, so that the bread is cooked from both sides.
Tip: You can always buy the schezwan sauce, but try making them at home as well with this recipe.
