After three years, global icon Priyanka Chopra finally got a chance to come back to her “home” India, and it seems like the ‘desi girl’ is in no mood to hold back as far as her foodie indulgences go. Soon after landing in Mumbai, she relished the Gujarati street food, dabeli, then she enjoyed a delish Indian feast featuring the most decadent curries, rice dishes and breads, courtesy her friend. Then in Lucknow, she decided to take a ‘chaat break’ from work to enjoy the most famous local street foods of the city. Now we don’t blame her, do we? Lucknow, is after all a haven for foodies.

Lucknow, also known as the ‘city of nawabs’, is renowned for its rich culinary heritage. It is known to be the birthplace of many epic kebabs, while the kormas and kalias are worth every bit of the hype too, but let’s not forget the enticing vegetarian fare of the city, especially the one that exists on the streets. This is the native place of the famous basket or Tokri Chaat, remember?

Priyanka has been associated with UNICEF for many years now and in the event, she got back to indulging again with a plate of Raj Kachori. This deep-fried, crunchy dough ball was hollowed and filled with curd and an array of sweet and spicy chutneys. The generous sprinkling of sev and boondi must have added more crunch to delish chaat, making it rich both in terms of flavour and texture.

Making Raj Kachori at home is also not a very difficult task. It is slightly different from khasta kachoris of Rajasthan, as it is served with curd and chutneys, making it more of a ‘chaat’ item.
