Since we’ve already established the nutritional properties of pomegranate, it would only be an anari (amateur) who wouldn’t want to have anar right away. There are various ways to include this fruit your daily meals. One of the most common ways is to deseed the red pearls and toss them in some black salt and relish them as it is.

For breakfast, one can add anar to their breakfast cereal bowl, garnish on their waffles or top it on the stack of pancakes made for morning. 1.  Pomegranate Waffles 

The waffles are made with oatmeal and flour and cooked in a waffle maker to get the desired shape and crunch. Once they are ready, you can drizzle honey or maple syrup on them and sprinkle fresh pomegranate seeds to finish it off. The fruit adds a dose of nutrition as well as sweetness to the waffles. 

2.  Pomegranate French Toast 

This is a heavenly sweet breakfast. The French toast is prepared  by dipping the slices of bread in a mix of eggs, milk and sugar. Cooked on a pan until crunchy from both sides, the toast is then topped with chopped apples. To this, some pomegranate sauce prepared from pomegranate molasses mixed in water, is drizzled over the toast. Dig in while it’s hot. 

3.  Pomegranate Pancakes 

These are gluten-free pancakes made with ricotta and oat flour. The pancakes are tossed on a pan and the soft roundels are then covered in heavy double cream. A delicious lemon sauce is prepared with lemon juice and cream to go with the pancakes. Not just that, the topping of these yellow pancakes is a pop of red with pomegranate seeds. 

4.   Pomegranate Poha 

Heard of Indori poha? This Madhya Pradesh-style poha is made with pomegranate and fennel seeds. Onion, capsicum and green chillies are chopped and added to the poha, along with lemon juice, mustard seeds and fennel seeds. Sprinkle some raisins and finish off with pearls of pomegranate to lend it a sweet freshness. 

5.  Pomegranate Parfait 

The French dessert often doubles up as a breakfast item too. This layered breakfast treat is filled with greek cinnamon yoghurt, cinnamon sugar pecans and apple cider caramel. In between, you will find diced apples and pomegranate arils making their appearance. The colourful layers of this breakfast treat are definitely drool-worthy.
