Pineapple Creme Brulee - we say it and one simply cannot resist thinking of having it as the next dessert. This tasty dish is perfect as a dessert post, say at a dinner party, or maybe for kids who come to a child’s birthday party. Now if we say that, let us make it at home, would that be believable? Do Believe us, because it is absolutely possible.
Oh, but there are so many arrangements to be made for a birthday, how can a mother possibly find time to make the dessert? Let’s order it, suggests the father! But hey, wait, the Pineapple Creme Brulee, takes just 20 minutes to be made. It has a preparation time of 15 minutes and a cooking time of 5 minutes. Yes, just 5 minutes. The recipe we describe below helps make 4 servings. Creme Brulee is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base that has a layer of hardened caramelised sugar.
The earliest known recipe for a dessert called Creme Brulee appears in a cookbook by Francois Massialot, written in 1691. The question of the origin of the dish has led to debate. The dish, Creme Brulee, gained prominence in the 1980s in Europe. Now, the dish we plan to make is Pineapple Creme Brulee. Here are the ingredients and the recipe for the dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 large pineapple
- 3 eggs
- 4 yolks
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- 1 vanilla bean, scraped
- 2 tablespoons coconut milk
- Whipped cream and strawberries, to garnish
Preparation:
- We need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Next, cut pineapples into 4 large slices, which should be 2 to 2 ½ inches thick. Make a circle in the middle of each slice, so that a sort of ring is formed
- Now scoop out the centre of the pineapple, and make sure to not pierce the peels/covering of the fruit (pineapple). This is because we will be using them in the dish. Now, place these on the baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, on medium to low flame, mix together egg yolks, ¼ cup sugar, pineapple juice, and vanilla seeds.
- Mix them continuously until it starts to thicken. This should mostly take around 5 minutes. Turn off the flame/gas and then add coconut milk.
- Now, pour this custard that we had prepared, into each pineapple that we had cut. (Remember, what we said about using the pineapple peels). Fill to the top and bake for 5 minutes.
- Remove it from the oven and let it cool. Top each pineapple, which is filled with custard with the remaining sugar, and torch until the sugar is golden brown.
- Use whipped cream and strawberries to garnish.
Here, the yummy, easy to make, and, of course, tasty dessert is ready. The Creme Brulle is sure to satisfy the taste buds and win the cook’s praises from one and all.
