Since the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the surface of the Moon, Indians all over the world have been over the Moon with national pride and happiness. Not only has the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) made history with Chandrayaan-3 but also charted new goals for the Indian scientific community. Congratulations for the successful mission have been pouring in from all quarters, and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has also joined in with a vegan cake.

To mark the momentous achievement by ISRO scientists and the team behind the Chandrayaan-3 mission, PETA India delivered a rocket-shaped vegan cake. The cake, which was made with chocolate truffle and blue buttercream that resembled the sky, was created by a Bangalore-based vegan patisserie, Crave by Leena. Leena Mathai, the woman behind the beautiful cake, is an award-winning baker who is known for her 100% vegan creations.

“We hope @isro.in loves this vegan cake delivered by PETA India today, to the moon and back,” PETA wrote on its social media along with a picture of the incredibly cake. “Made with love and respect by @cravebyleena in Bengaluru. Congratulations India!” Leena Mathai’s team also posted a reel with behind-the-scenes footage of how the cake was made and delivered to ISRO with the help of PETA, who commisioned the cake from her team.

“Huge shout out to @petaindia for giving us the opportunity to make this Chandrayaan 3 cake for @isro.in team to celebrate the successful launch and welcome @narendramodi,” Mathai wrote on social media. “Grateful, humbled and thankful to @chopra.monica @sinchana_16 organise and get this through all the hurdles and security.”

In addition to sharing this stunning rocket-shaped cake, PETA India also lauded the other notable achievements by ISRO, including the fact that the organisation has taken a firm stand against animal testing. While other nations have sent animals, like Laika the stray dog who was picked from the streets of Moscow and sent to space aboard Sputnik 2, ISRO decided to send a humanoid robot for its Gaganyaan project.

“India is the first to land on the moon’s south pole, and vegetarian eating also originated in India. Our nation now has the largest population of vegetarians in the world and has seen an astounding 360 per cent increase in the number of vegans in 10 years, so there’s a lot for us to be proud of,” PETA India Manager of Fashion, Media, and Celebrity Projects Monica Chopra said in a press release. “In celebration of all this, PETA India was proud to deliver a vegan cake to ISRO today.”
