Paal Parotta originated in the Malabar region of Kerala. The dish was created as a way to use leftover parottas. In the olden days, parottas were a luxury food item, and people would often save them for the next day. Paal Parotta was an ingenious way to turn the leftover parottas into a delicious and satisfying dessert.

Over time, Paal Parotta became a popular dessert in Kerala and is now commonly found in restaurants and sweet shops across the state. Today, Paal Parotta is not just a dessert but is also served as a savoury breakfast or evening snack.
