That last slice of pizza seems like a huge deal for pizza lovers. Well, if the last bit is so important, then so would be the entire pizza. You need the base, the sauce, the toppings and the crust to be just perfect. For that, you would need all the right ingredients and tools. Even if you’ve gathered everything else, how are you going to bake it without an oven? That’s a question that you might ask yourself very often. Fret not, there are actually a couple of ways by which you can bake a pizza and satiate your cravings. 

The idea of not using an oven for making pizza occurred to me when my friend shared her personal technique with me. Since she does not have an oven at home, she usually bakes her cakes in a pressure cooker. That was quite fascinating for me as I was not aware of this until then. Then I popped the question, “How do you make a pizza?” to which she smiled and replied, “On the tawa”. This left me amazed yet again. I had never thought that a flat griddle (tawa) which is usually used for making rotis and parathas, could be used for making a pizza too.

In fact, it isn’t just tawa, there are a host of ways in which you can make pizza without an oven at home. Here are some of them you can give a try. 

1.  Pizza On A Pan 

Got a non-stick pan at home? Perfect because that’s all we’re asking for. After you’ve got your pizza dough ready, roll it into a circular shape and toss it on the pan. Once it turns light brown, lower the heat and spruce up with sauce and your choice of toppings. Place the lid on top of the pan and let it cook for a few minutes. Once the cheese melts, you know it’s ready. 

2.  Pizza On A Grill Rack 

This one might seem tricky to you but it actually works. You can use a grill maker or a grill rack that works on the stovetop. The process to be followed is just the same. All you have to do is oil the rack and toss the base till it turns crisp. Add in your sauce, veggies and cheese on top and cover it so that it cooks properly. 

3.  Pizza In A Kadhai 

Kadhai, for the unversed, is a thick bottomed vessel which has a deeper center. This might not seem like an ideal utensil for cooking a flat pizza but it will work well. Here, it takes a slight de tour from the usual steps. You have to pre-heat the kadhai with some white salt and place a metal ring in the centre on top of which the pizza plate is placed. This is then covered with a lid and in a matter of few minutes, you have your crispy pizza ready.
