Winter is the season for comfort meals and to celebrate seasonal produce in meals that are homely, hearty and extra nutritious. In North India that means the appearance of winter vegetables like carrots, turnips and of course, mustard greens, known as sarson to make the favourite treat, Sarson Ka Saag. Many people eagerly await this time of year for their favourite meal and it seems like Bollywood star, Nimrat Kaur is one of them

The actress, who’s known for her roles in The Lunchbox and Dasvi – and is currently gaining attention for her impactful performances – has a thriving social media presence where she shares insights into her life with her 600,000+ fans. Recently she posted a story about a very typical winter meal saying ‘Saron (sic) de saag, baajrey di roti, moolee di salad tey gajrela for dessert…How was your lunch?”

Her plate was simple but appetising with a serving of rich emerald green saag, a homestyle bajra roti with a side of radish salad and a big bowl of gajar ka halwa for dessert, the perfect winter feast.

Later that day she also posted a story with a dessert from Nirula’s a classic Delhi fast food chain which has been serving up tasty treats since 1977. She posted it along with the cryptic caption ‘Game over #IYKYK’, so it’s safe to say that Nimrat Kaur has given in to the temptations of a fantastic ice cream and had an enviable food day.
