Nick Jonas is known all over the world as a singer who started out as a teen sensation with his brothers, but for Indians, he is almost certainly recognised as the nation’s favourite non-desi son-in-law thanks to his marriage to desi girl Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The couple has been together for years now, and it seems that finally, Priyanka Chopra’s love for Indian food has rubbed off on Nick Jonas—at least, that’s what a recent interview video doing the rounds shows.

The fact that both Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas are foodies is well known, but very few know that the latter is now more familiar with Indian flavours than ever before. In a recent video taken by a fan and shared via the Instagram handle @jerryxmimi, Nick Jonas can be seen discussing his favourite Indian dishes. When asked by the fan what Indian dishes he loves to eat the most, his straight-faced answers are “I like Paneer, Lamb Biryani and you know, a Dosa.”

The fan immediately responds “Priyanka has taught you well” in the video, and we simply must agree. Truth be told, while the Lamb Biryani and Dosa might come as a pleasant surprise for all Indians who love Nick Jonas, his love for all things Paneer is very well known by now. In an interview with Today magazine in 2020, Nick Jonas, when asked about his favourite Indian food had answered, “Paneer, it’s the best.” He was then asked if he loves Samosas, and his response had been: “I do...but I’m more of a paneer guy.”

For those who don’t know, Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a teenager, which means his body is unable to create the insulin required to manage blood sugar levels. During a podcast with Priyanka Chopra Jonas during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nick Jonas had revealed that he has to take regular medication for his comorbidity and maintain a strict diet consisting of protein-packed, low-calorie dishes. Naturally then, his love for Paneer dishes makes sense because the ingredient is indeed high on protein and low in calories. In fact, some studies even show that Paneer is a healthy option for those who have diabetes.

In other, but related news, Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently ended her partnership with Sona, the Indian restaurant in New York City. Started in partnership with Maneesh Goyal in 2021, the restaurant serves modern Indian food and will continue to stay open despite Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ exit.
