Earlier this year, Hauz Khas Social in New Delhi made heads turn with its makeover. Many new additions were made to the menu and even the décor. And now, Social lovers have yet another reason to rejoice, with its latest outlet opening at Aerocity in the Capital. Aerocity has emerged to be one of the sought-after places among the gourmands of Delhi, and Social, situated at Worldmark 1, is making all the right noises with its aeroplane-themed restaurant. Sit down by the ‘window seats’, and unwind at the bar for a posh ‘airport lounge-like experience’, the domes and walls also do their bit to give you a first-class, ‘in-flight’ experience.

What remains intact is the quality of food, crowd favourites like momo platter, shawarma platter, butter garlic prawns and butter chicken biryani make a comeback, Chef Shamsul has also worked on the presentation and treatment of several dishes. Speaking of the new additions, the chef says, “I also believe that the novelty is actually in the presentation and improvement of our recipes. For instance, our pizzas, burgers and biryanis are being presented in an all-new avatar and not only in terms of presentation but also enhanced flavours. Needless to say, Social has always and will continue to come up with new twists in the menu as well as its presentations.”

We sampled the Butter Garlic Chilli Momos, where Delhi’s favourite dumpling snack came tossed in butter, garlic, and chilli, finished off with sriracha basil sauce. Our tryst with hot food didn’t just end there, next on our table were the Hot Tennessee Chicken Wings, slathered in hot BBQ sauce, these wings are ideal snacks to go with your sweet cocktails. We also tried the Social Spicy Aglio Olio Pasta, which we found a tad underwhelming, after a point, they start to taste like your standard non-veg noodles. The Butter Chicken Biryani has never disappointed, and it hits the spot here too. Rice and boneless chicken chunks mixed with butter chicken gravy, this portion of comforting indulgence has our heart.

Another interesting dish you must try is Chaat ki Gubarey. Explaining why it is the most difficult dish of his kitchen, Chef Shamsul says, “Chaat ke Gubbare as it is a very technical dish to prepare and a minor mistake can make a mess of this dish as it consists of a spherified ravioli of yoghurt in a papdi chaat along with chutneys and masalas. But since Chaat ke Gubbare has been the crowd’s favourite, the team is a pro with its execution.”
