Corn is a grain that is high in fibre, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Did you know that there are numerous corn varieties available in hues other than the ubiquitous yellow? These include red, orange, purple, blue, white, and even black. Southern Mexico gave birth to the grain plant known as corn or maize. The most consumed component of the corn seed, the kernels contain the majority of the nutrients. Boiled corns are everyone's favourite, especially during the monsoon! Every street has stalls selling boiled corn or bhuna hua bhutta. Cool breeze, rain pouring and chatpate corns are everything you need to rejuvenate your mood. Do you know that corns are very beneficial for your health?
Here are some benefits of corn-
1. Reduces Anemia
Iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, all of which are abundant in corn, aid in the body's formation of red blood cells. By providing enough of the nutrients needed to build new Red blood cells, it helps to lower the risk of anaemia. Nutritionists estimate that 1 cup of raw maize provides 75 mg of iron, 125 calories, 27 g of carbohydrates, 4 g of protein, 9 g of sugar, and 2 g of fat.
Lowers Blood Sugar and Cholesterol Levels
Sweet corn and corn oil are a great option for diabetics and people with high cholesterol since they boost blood flow, reduce cholesterol absorption, and regulate insulin. It's rich in carbs, it's a terrific source of energy, says Dr Sheela Krishnaswamy, a dietitian and wellness consultant in Bangalore. High in nutrients, corn is particularly rich in vitamins B1, B5, and C, which aids in illness prevention and cell growth. Corn is high in fibre and lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics, which lowers cholesterol levels in the body.
Promotes Healthy Skin
Antioxidants like Vitamin C and lycopene found in corn boost collagen synthesis and shield the skin from UV-induced free radical damage. In addition to being eaten, its components, such as maize oil and corn starch, can be applied directly to the skin and are frequently used as ingredients in many cosmetics.
