Back from her girl’s trip to Dubai, Mira Kapoor kept us hooked on to her stories all that while. The fun and adventure that she had with her best friends and the exotic treats that she savoured gave us pure vacay goals. The mom cum influencer has a following of about 3.6 million on Instagram and we love how she’s so active and interactive with her fans on social media. Right from skincare to travel tips and mom advice, she manages to cover it all in her content. Married to actor Shahid Kapoor, Mira has carved a niche for herself in the industry. Also, she’s a self-confessed foodie. Her giant overstuffed snack bags for vacations are proof.
Then we’ve also seen her with her cup of coffee in most stories because that’s her fuel. Her beau, Shahid too is a die-hard fan of coffee. However, we recently discovered Mira Kapoor’s favourite fruit of the season and we are thrilled. She took to her Instagram stories to share a picture of a giant pineapple and a plate full of litchi or lychee. Peeled out litchis are kept on the side and Mira Kapoor expresses in the caption that, “This pineapple is gigantic and my favourite fruit is in season! LYCHEEEEE”. Her love for the fruit makes us crave litchi now. Here’s what it looked like.
Falling off evergreen trees, the litchis bore on these tall trees are small fruits with a fleshy and pulp inside and a reddish-pink outer covering. While the outer layer is inedible, it is the flesh inside that makes a delicious treat for the taste buds. Full of antioxidants and Vitamin C, this fruit is good for keeping infections at bay. It is considered to be good for liver health and has umpteen amounts of fibre too.
With such a great fruit in season, how can we not make some use of it. Here are some ways in which you can include litchi in your diet.
1. Litchi Melon Punch
A refreshing and tasty drink for summers, the litchi punch is definitely going to be a respite in this season. Some ripe watermelon is mixed with fresh litchi juice and mint leaves. Lime juice is added to lend it some tartness and give it the punchy taste. Pour in some lime-flavoured soda and you’ll be up for a delicious drink.
2. Litchi Fruit Cake
A fleshy and juicy cake, perfect for any occasion, this cake recipe is a must-try. The base is that of a vanilla sponge cake, slathered with some whipped cream frosting on top. The cake is decorated with peeled litchis and some red cherries on top to add a pop of colour.
3. Litchi Plum Ice Cream
Made with some good sweet plums, the litchi ice cream is cool and refreshing in this season. Condensed milk is mixed with full cream milk and sugar and the entire thing is frozen for a day. You get a creamy, smooth and sweet ice cream the next day.
