When one fan asked her if she eats any carbohydrates as a part of her regular diet, Masaba Gupta revealed that she has carbs “almost always for lunch and even breakfast sometimes”. She also explains that though she had tried a no-carbs keto diet once, she nearly fainted. “I need my chawal and aloo for life,” she added with a grinning emoji. When a person asked about her favourite snacks, Masaba Gupta replied with Chheda banana chips (tomato and salt and pepper mix), crushed Marie biscuits with ice cream, popcorn and “Latoo”.

She also revealed that instead of giving up on sugar completely, Masaba Gupta believes in enjoying life “in small proportions”. She also declared her occasional binge of Melody chocolates, ice cream and chocolate granola. Another follower asked Masaba Gupta what her go-to dinner recommendations are, and she replied with a list of “a clean, no-cheese (buckwheat) roti pizza with lots of veggies and kale soup, Hara bhara kebab and asparagus soup, Gluten-free pasta, Wok-tossed veggies with pesto and broccoli rice, Paneer tikka with carrot/lauki soup, Oven-baked sweet potato with chilli and lime” while also insisting that soup is a great dinner option as it is filling while low in calories.

So, despite her love for carbs and sweets, Masaba Gupta believes in maintaining a balance in her food choices. In another post on Instagram recently, she explained how she tries to maintain the balance. “Nutrition is a very important pillar for me,” she explained in the post. “I usually follow an 80/20 rule where I eat well 80 per cent of the time and allow myself 20 per cent of all the food I love but isn’t really good for me. But when I go off track and the junk takes up 50 per cent of space, I need to get back on track!”

And what does she eat when she does go off-track? Masaba Gupta explains that she whips up her go-to, quick, one-bowl meal consisting of greens to get back on track while giving her body the nutrients it hasn’t received in a while. Consisting of lettuce, onions, cucumber, salmon, olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika dusted potatoes and guacamole, this one-bowl quickie meal highlights clean and healthy flavours—and no wonder Masaba Gupta relies on it to get back on track.
