A glance at Malaika Arora’s Instagram handle will let you know that she is big into yoga and fitness. The paps often catch her in and out of her yoga studio. If she’s not exercising, well, we know that she's bingeing on good food in some part of the city. But what is her favourite cuisine? It has to be Indian food.

Most of her Instagram stories are filled with desi dishes that she relishes on that particular day. Recently, we caught her indulging in a plateful of biryani. For the unfamiliar, biryani is a one-pot rice dish that is rich and meaty. The plate had yellowish brown rice topped with saffron strands and coriander leaves. There was also a bowl of steamed rice beside it, as well as a few other silver bowls covered with a lid, which we assume are gravies to go with it.

However, this isn’t the first instance of Malaika indulging in good desi food. Even while she’s travelling, you’ll find her digging into authentic local food, like when she was in Goa with her beau, Arjun Kapoor, for a vacation. She posted a picture of an authentic seafood thali from a local kitchen in Goa. Another time, she was at her sister Amrita Arora’s place for lunch and was devouring thecha, a fiery Maharashtrian chutney that she highlighted as "is not for the faint-hearted."

Her love for Indian food is so well known that when she was shooting in Chandigarh, she was invited to her hair and makeup artist’s house, where her mother had made lots of home-cooked Punjabi food for her. This included the classic kadhi pakora, maa ki daal, bhurji, halwa, rice, and roti.
