Whenever I used to have cold or sore throat, my mother used to give a homemade syrup to me which was made up of ginger juice, honey, and tulsi leaves. That syrup used to cure my sore throat in no time. Some say that ginger works like magic, and I can’t disagree. 

Ginger has been used traditionally in treating cold-related illnesses. It is full of anti-inflammatory properties that cure respiratory ailments like magic. Ginger is one such spicy and pungent herb that provides the required amount of heat to the body. Besides, it also helps in boosting the body’s immunity and thus keeps seasonal infections at bay. Ginger Candy


Ingredients

  • 200 gm jaggery
  • 100 gm ginger
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp black salt 
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp desi ghee
  • Sugar for coating the candies

Method

  • Take ginger and roast it directly on low flame. 
  • Then, clean it with water and peel the ginger skin,
  • Cut it into pieces and grind it until it turns into a smooth paste.
  • Take a pan and heat the ghee.
  • Add the ginger paste to it and roast it for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Keep stirring and make sure that the paste doesn’t burn.
  • Then, add grated jaggery and mix until jaggery melts.
  • Then, add turmeric powder, black salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix well and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Keep stirring.
  • Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool down a little.
  • Now, grease your hands with ghee and start making small balls from the paste.
  • Make sure you make the balls when the paste is a little warm.
  • When done, coat the balls with powdered sugar and store them.
