Recipe For Preparing Dal Dhokhli In Pressure Cooker

Follow the steps explained below to enjoy freshly prepared Dal Dhokli:

  • Firstly, rinse the lentils so your meal is free of unwanted bacteria or germs.
  • Then, soak the lentils in water and keep them aside for 1-2 hours.
  • Knead the dough for around two to three minutes (until it bounces back when you gently press it with a finger). Then, allow the dough to rest covered for ten minutes.
  • Later, switch on the instant pot and season it carefully with ghee and spices.
  • Now, pour water and lentils into the instant pot while keeping in mind the proportion that you think is needed for a filling meal.
  • Make sure to loosely cover the lid of the instant pot so that the water comes to a boil. Allow it to boil until the lentils turn soft.
  • Knead the dough once again for a few seconds before you start making Dhokli.
  • Now, pull small round pieces out of the logs and make impressions in the center of each using your thumb. This will enable you to achieve disc-shaped round pieces of dough termed Dhoklis
  • After preparing the Dhoklis, put them in the pressure cooker and the lentils you had prepared in the instant pot. Subsequently, close the lid of the pressure cooker and allow it to get cooked for a few minutes. (If cooking in a pressure cooker, cook it till four whistles.)
  • Keep checking it occasionally so that it does not get over or under-cooked in the pressure cooker.
  • Once it is ready, serve it with rice, chapati, or anything you choose.

Essential Tips For Preparing Satiating Dal Dhokli

Given below are a few tips that can be followed to prepare Dal Dhokli like an expert:

  • Do not put all Dhokli’s together in go, otherwise, they will lump together. Instead, the water boils for a few minutes, then add two or three at a time.
  • Adding ghee is a good option to enhance the taste, but this dish can be customised according to your requirements. Hence, you can completely skip adding ghee if you detest it.
  • If you do not have an instant pot, simply use your stovetop pressure cooker to follow the recipe given above.

On a concluding note, preparing Dal Dhokli in a pressure cooker is quite simple if you follow all the steps carefully. It does not require too many ingredients or a massive amount of time but it is a great dish for people who want to try their hands-on cooking with less experience.
