It is said that there is a temple inside each Indian home and that is the kitchen – the place where we start and end our days. Our kitchen holds the secret to our health, nourishment and well-being. It is in the kitchen that we cook up recipes that would eventually add to our overall well-being. And when we equate the kitchen to a temple, we also talk about simple, nourishing foods that the Gods like. Today, let us know a little about Lord Krishna’s khichdi.

Khichdi is an amalgamation of lentils and rice to make the most delicious, heart-warming dish. The smell of ghee and garam masala just adds to that. Lord Krishna, who came to love khichdi after he had it with his friend Sudama relishes this simple dish and it is presented to Him as His bhog in temples and homes alike. The one pot dish has several amazing elements that make it a comfort meal. It has historic relevance too as Draupadi made khichdi for the saints who had come to visit the Pandavas while their Vanvaas.
