  • One tbsp instant dry yeast
  • Two tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • Two tbsp olive oil
  • Whole wheat flour for sprinkling

Recipe

  • Add the yeast, sugar, and 1/4 cup of warm water in a bowl and cover it with a lid and keep aside for 10 minutes
  • Add the whole wheat flour, salt, and yeast-sugar mixture in a bowl, mix well, and prepare the dough by kneading it using warm water.
  • Smoothen it by adding olive oil and kneading it. 
  • Give a round shape to the dough using both hands while tucking the edges at the bottom.
  • Cover it with a dry muslin cloth and keep it aside in a warm place for 45 minutes until the dough doubles.
  • Sprinkle the whole wheat flour over a smooth surface and place the dough over it. Knead it using both your hands. If you feel that the dough sticks to your hands, sprinkle whole wheat flour on it and knead
  • Tap the dough with your fingers to get the final finish and spread it to make a 250 mm X 200 mm diameter oval shape.
  • Roll the dough to make it a cylindrical shaped roll of 200 mm and place it in a greased bread loaf tin.
  • Cover it with a dry muslin cloth and keep it in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  • Bake it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees C for 10 minutes
  • Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees C for 30 minutes. 
  • After it bakes completely, remove the bread loaf tin from the oven and brush the whole wheat bread loaf with butter. Keep it aside to cool.
  • Once the bread loaf cools down, de-mold it and keep it aside to cool completely.
  • Cut it into 13 mm bread slices and serve the whole wheat bread as required.
