Rinse with warm water
Put your wooden spoons in the washbasin, then pour some warm water over them. Before using soap, give your wooden spoons a good rinse in water.
Use mild soap
Strong chemical soaps can wear away the wood since they are abrasive. Use a mild dish soap on a washcloth, bristled brush, or sponge, then scrub away food particles. Under hot, soapy water, move in circles. Once the meal has been removed from the spoon, wash the wood with warm water to remove any soap residue.
Use baking soda
Use a baking soda and water solution to get rid of lingering odours and food stains. Apply the mixture to your wooden spoon by mixing one teaspoon of water with one tablespoon of baking soda. Baking soda balances acidity and eliminates odours that have embedded themselves in the pores of your wooden spoons. If you don't have baking soda, you can substitute lemon juice. To remove odours, simply soak your wooden spoons in lemon juice.
Air dry the spoons
To remove any extra water, pat the spoons dry with a paper towel or clean cloth. After the wood dries completely, lean your wooden spoons up against a drying rack. Instead of lying them flat, stand your wooden spoons up to improve airflow and stop the wood from swelling and splitting.
