Of all the food miseries that I have come across, the misery of eating a dry, undercooked and chewy piece of meat is the worst. Wrong cooking techniques can lead to miserable kitchen disasters that will bring your happiness of relishing delicious foods to ruins. One such culinary disaster is cooking dry, chewy and undercooked pork chops. We have curated a few simple tips and tricks that will help you cook tender and juicy pork chops with little fuss. Check them out and say “Goodbye” to chewy and dry pork chops forever.

1. Don’t cook them straight from the refrigerator- Cooking pork chops straight from the refrigerator will lead to uneven cooking. Take the chops out of your fridge at least 30 minutes before you plan to cook them to bring them to room temperature.

2. Season them half an hour before cooking- Seasoning the chops and letting them rest will improve the texture and flavour of the pork. Chops are lean pieces of meat and seasoning them will bring out their natural flavours.

3. Rub the exterior with spices and flour- Rubbing the pork chops with spices and flour is a quite unpopular technique that results in a crispy crust. Make a blend with your favourite spices and add a little bit of flour to it. Rub the pork chops with the blend before transferring them to the pan.

4. Sear on one side- The most common problem while cooking pork chops is a beautifully crispy exterior with an undercooked interior. We have a hack to prevent your joy of enjoying juicy and perfectly cooked pork chops with a crispy exterior from going to rack and ruin. Sear the chops on one side on medium-high heat to get a crispy exterior. Flip them once, reduce the heat to low and cover them. This will cook the pork chops in the middle and will also give a beautifully crispy texture to the other side.

5. Rest is important- Do not cut into the chops right after removing them from heat. This will dry out all the juices and you will end up with a dry and chewy piece of meat. Cover them with aluminium foil and let the chops rest at least for five minutes to allow the juices to distribute evenly throughout the piece of meat.
