Let’s just agree that most Indian food lovers can’t stop gorging on a steamy plate of momos. Juicy, succulent and irresistibly delicious, momos paired with fiery red chutney is a weakness for many. It is one street food combination that continues to thrive in most parts of India, despite it being a traditional Tibetan delicacy. The rage is such that one can find a momo street vendor, with deep steamers filled with chicken and vegetarian momos, in almost every local market, especially in North India. 

Being a Delhiite, I’ve had countless variations of the juicy snack and still can’t ever have enough of it. That’s also the reason I end up ordering them every once in a while. During the lockdown, I even learnt to make it at home. But whether I’m ordering them from a restaurant or preparing at home, I always end up having a few extra bites. You don’t want to run out of anything you love too soon, isn’t it? So, I place the leftover momos in the fridge to consume the next day. But like most other foods, leftover momos too don’t taste as good as they do when they are freshly steamed. Are you in the same boat as me? Not anymore! Reheating Leftover Momos In A Microwave 

Reheating food in a microwave may lead to some issues that are common with almost every food. One of them is that the food, in this case momos, come out dry than usual and are often cold from inside. All one needs is the right technique to follow.  

To reheat the momos perfectly in a microwave, place the momos in a microwave-safe bowl and cover them with a damp muslin cloth or paper towel. Heat it for about 1-2 minutes, depending on the number of momos and voila! You will have fresh and tasty momos in no time. 

Alternatively, you can also place a cup filled with water along with the plate of momos. The water emits moisture, which helps not only reheat the momos but also makes them soft. This is the same technique a lot of people use to reheat pizza as well.

Reheating Leftover Momos On A Pan 

If you don't have a microwave, use a pan. It will be as effective as a microwave. But do you add your momos to the pan as is and immediately regret it, because they burn from the bottom too easily? I understand. But don’t worry we won’t ask you to add oil to it. You just need to heat the pan and add 2-3 spoons of water. Then, immediately place the momos and cover the pan. This would not only prevent the momos from burning but also help retain moisture. And make sure to use a flat-bottomed pan, not a wok. You may call it the pan version of the microwave water trick we just told you about.
