Delightful and flavourful, Broken Wheat Halwa also known as Broken Wheat Lapsi or Daliya ka Halwa is a tasty and healthy sweet treat, The dessert is super healthy that can be included in the diet of babies, toddlers as well as adults. It can be served to all the babies above 8 months. It has a soft texture and melts in the mouth immediately.
It is a quick and easy-to-prepare dessert which originated in India. It is also one of the best meals to have when you are trying to control your weight. The Halwa is low in calories and high in fibre. It is pretty filling and keeps you full for a longer time.

Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup Cracked Wheat
- 2 Tbsp Ghee
- 1/2 Cup Palm Jaggery
- 1/2 Tsp Cardamom Powder
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 2 tsp Raisins
- 2 tsp Cashew Nuts
- 2 tsp Almond Flakes
- 1 and 1/2 Cup Water
Method:
- In the first step, take a pan and put 1 tsp of ghee into it. Heat the pan for a while
- Put cashew nuts, almond flakes and raisins in the pan as well and fry them until turn golden brown. Once they are fried, keep them aside for a while
- Now, in the same pan roast broken wheat on a low flame. Once they turn golden, switch off the flame and transfer it to a pressure cooker
- Now, heat the pressure cooker and put 1 and 1/2 cups of water as well as ½ cup of milk into it. Next, cook it for 3 whistles straight
- Now, open the lid once the cooker completely cools down
- Take a bowl, add grated jaggery by adding 1/4 cup of water and melt it
- Next, put this melted jaggery into the cooked broken wheat and heat again
- Stir continuously while cooking until the jaggery syrup gets dried and the Broken Halwa begin to leave the sides of the pan
- In this step, put cardamom powder, fried nuts and 1/2 tsp of ghee into the pan
- Mix all the ingredients well and turn off the flame
- Finally, Daliya Ka Halwa is ready to serve
Notes:
- There is a lot of variety of broken wheat in the market. You can use thick as well as thin Daliya. If it is thick add more water and if it is thin less amount water is required
- You can also pressure cook the Daliya for 4 whistles instead of cooking it in a pan. Pressure cooking saves time
- You can use apple puree instead of jaggery or sugar to bring sweetness. It is especially for babies who are under 1 year
You can serve this Halwa warm as well as mildly cold as per your taste. Also, many temples serve it as prasad and the Halwa tastes amazing and delicious.
