Undoubtedly, Karwa Chauth is one of the most awaited festivals for most Indian women. This year, the festival will be celebrated on the 24th of this month and I know most women are busy preparing for it. The long strenuous day involves getting ready, applying henna on their hands, performing puja and finally breaking their fasts after seeing the moon. Although all the rituals are quite fun-filled and exciting, the only thing that takes a toll on everyone is the nirjala fast. For some, it may be the first Karwa Chauth vrat and we know the struggles of fasting the whole day that comes with the excitement. The nirjala fast brings with it stress, anxiety and even impulsive eating which leads to some serious digestive issues for the next few days or even weeks. So, we have curated a list of foods that you should break your fast with to let your body react well to the dietary change.
1.Dry fruits and nuts
Dry fruits and nuts are great to load up on after a long day of fast. They are rich in antioxidants and will fill your body with essential nutrients. Soak some almonds and raisins the day before to have them post-Vrat.
2.Proteins
It is always advised to load up on foods that don’t get metabolized too easily and proteins serve the purpose quite evidently. Consume considerable amounts of proteins instead of fats and simple carbs after the fast to maintain the energy levels.
3.Fresh fruits
There is nothing better than fruits when it comes to restoring energy levels. Filled with natural sugars, vitamins and minerals, fruits are ideal for breaking a fast.
4.Coconut water/lime juice
It is universally proven that lime juice and coconut water are the go-to drinks on an extremely tiring day. And what’s better than loading up on them to restore the lost electrolytes on Karwa Chauth?
We hope we have sorted your Karwa Chauth this year. Worried about what to include in your sargi? Read about this here.
