Coinciding with Diwali, Kali Puja, also known as Shyama Puja, is celebrated on the Amavasya night during the Hindu month of Kartik (October or November). Significance Of The Puja

Kali Puja stirs deep emotions among devotees, transcending rituals to embody profound spiritual significance. The celebration represents the triumph over evil, ignorance, and negativity. Bhog Offerings To Maa Kali

Food becomes a symbol of dedication and gratitude when bhog offerings are prepared, which has a special role in Kali Puja rites. Bhog means "offering" and is a heartfelt devotion to the god given by believers. The offerings usually include rather plain and delicious vegetarian dishes that express devotion, but do not forget to show the adoration and love to the goddess.

  • Khichuri: It is a hearty rice and lentil dish that is often seasoned with spices and veggies. It is the ideal offering for Ma Kali since it represents comfort and abundance.
  • Luchi: Another well-liked dish that goes well with the meal is luchi, or fluffy deep-fried bread. People consider it a great food, and it is a delight to use it because of its glossy quality and smooth surface.

  • Niramish Kosha Aloo Dom: A vegetarian potato curry is frequently served. Using the guidelines of Sattvic cooking, this spicy potato dish is made without the use of garlic or onions. This dish is flavourful and soothing since the potatoes are slow-cooked in a rich broth of tomatoes and spices.

  • Payesh (Kheer): It is a classic Bengali rice pudding made with milk, rice, and sugar, is often served during celebrations. This sweet dish, which actually symbolises the sweetness devotees would like to offer to the goddess, is also symbolic of prosperity.

  • Malpua: It is a tasty fried pancake prepared with sugar and flour that is often flavoured with coconut or cardamom.
  • Rosogolla: A popular Bengali treat, these spongy, syrup-soaked cheese balls have a unique place in the Kali Puja bhog. It is thought that including them in the offering will bring prosperity and happiness.
