Kajari Teej is among the most auspicious festivals celebrated with great and enthusiasm by women. Majorly celebrated in parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar ad Madhya Pradesh, it is the time when women observe fasts for the long lives of their husband and worship Lord Shiva and Parvati. Not just married women, unmarried girls also observe the fast to get a husband of their desire. Also known as Badi Teej, Kajari teej this year will be celebrated on 2nd September.
Just like any other festival in India, Kajari teej too features deep-rooted customs and rituals, customs and certain food practices that hold deep spiritual and health significance. On Kajari Teej, women observe fasts and consume Satvik foods in their diet which eventually keeps their mind and body pure and devotes towards the rituals. Some women go through rigorous fasting without having food or even water, some avoid eating grains, pulses, and other heavy foods. Rather, they have Satvik foods that are light to digest.

Just like any other festival, Kajari teej too features some simple, Satvik and delicious desserts. These desserts are a perfect amalgamation of simplicity and taste. Have a look:
Kheer Puri
Kheer Puri is one of most humble and simple meals one can have on the day. While kheer is made up of milk, rice, nuts and flavourings, puris are fried flatbreads and believe me, kheer-puri is a match made in heaven. On Kajari Teej, women offer this first to Goddess Parwati and then have it after breaking their fast. Because of its ingredients, kheer and puri combination boosts energy levels that had gone down while fasting.
Ghewar
When it's around monsoon, ghewar is one such dessert that always finds its mention. Often consumed on Hariyali Teej, Raksha Bandhan or Kajari Teej, this honeycomb like dessert has tiny pores and topped with a creamy layer of malai and nuts. It is also made around monsoon because it needs moisture. Thus, damp weather becomes an ideal time for its preparation.
Gujiya
Gujiya is yet another popular dessert that is made and enjoyed during Kajari Teej as well as Holi. Gujiya is a crisp and flaky pastry filled with a sweet khoya and dry fruits stuffing. It is often enjoyed by women after they break their fast on Kajari Teej. This dessert is easy to make and also satisfies sweet cravings.
Suji Halwa
Suji halwa is one of the simplest desserts made in Indian households. Made with semolina, sugar, ghee and cardamom, suji ka halwa is super easy to make and makes up for a perfect dessert. This sweet is often consumed by women after they break their fast on Kajari Teej.
Sattu Ladoo
Sattu is one of the most crucial ingredients during Kajari Teej. On this occasion, various desserts like sattu laddu, sattu barfi and sattu halwa are much enjoyed by women during Kajari Teej. Women break their fast by eating sattu which also provides right energy to the body.
