Also known as Gokul Ashtami, the festival this year will start on 6th September at 3:37 PM and will end at 4:14 PM on 7th September. With Janmashtami just around the corner, temples are dolled up and people are all set to celebrate the festival with great zeal and enthusiasm. Janmashtami is one festival where 56 bhog and many other delicacies are prepared for the deity.

Panjiri is believed to be the favourite of Lord Krishn and thus, it is a quintessential prasad offered to Lord Krishna. One can make panjiri using several ways. Nariyal Panjiri 

Made with grated coconut, this panjiri variety is easy to make and super delicious. To make this panjiri this Janmashtami, just dry roast some grated coconut and muskmelon seeds in separate pans. Add sugar powder and green cardamoms. Add grated coconut with melon seeds, dry fruits mix nicely. Mix and cook well. Serve to the deity as prashad. 

Dhaniya Panjiri 

One of the most popular panjiris made on Janmashtami, dhaniya panjiri is a perfect example of aroma as well as taste. It has coriander seeds and is super easy to make. All you need to do is roast dhaniya panjiri in ghee and keep them aside. Then, roast dry fruits and nuts like makhanas and powdered sugar. Cook and serve. 

Besan Panjiri 

Besan panjiri is one of the most scrumptious panjiris one can have. Best part? It is very easy to make. To make this panjiri, heat ghee in a pan and dry roast besan until it is brown and aromatic. Then, add chopped dry fruits like almonds, pistachios and whole fox nuts. Add cardamom powder and powdered sugar. Mix well and it is ready. 

Dry Fruit Panjiri 

Panjiri is a very simple prasad recipe and with the addition of dry fruits, it can get richer and tastier. To make this panjiri, heat ghee and add assorted dry fruits. Roast these dry fruits and keep them aside. Then, roast makhanas until they are crispy. Then, roast wheat flour in ghee and add the crushed dry fruits and powdered sugar to it. Cook and savour. 

Gond Panjiri 

Yet another popular panjiri variant, dhaniya panjiri is made with goodness of gond and is super healthy. To make this panjiri, heat ghee in a pan and add in gond or edible gum until it fluffs up. When done, drain out the excess oil. Then, toss grated coconut until it is brown. Then, add some ghee with wheat flour, coconut and gond. Cook and serve.
