Have you ever wondered why pakoras are the ultimate go-to snack of all time for millions of us? It’s because they are simply delicious and take less than a couple minutes to make them by yourself. Especially on a rainy day, our cravings for pakoras are usually at its peak because you cannot find a better way to pair your hot cup of tea or coffee with than homemade pakoras, that are spicy and are always too delicious to resist. So this time we have bought dal pakoras that are quite famous among the people belonging from Rajasthan. Chawala dal pakoras are made using chawla dal which is also referred to as black-eyed beans in English, which is finely crushed and mixed with spices and then traditionally deep fried in groundnut oil. What's great about these Rajasthani fritters are that they are very healhy unlike many pakoras and the taste of dal instead of making these pakoras dull or bland in taste, eventually uplifts the flavours, making them altogether more tasteful. Also, if you have leftover dal at home, you can put it into good use too instead of wasting it. Although whether you have leftover dal or not, don't miss out on the taste of these pakoras for sure. If you’re tempted, try making them at home by following the steps below.

  • 3-5 green chilli
  • Crushed dry coriander
  • green coriander
  • 1-2 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • Oil for frying

Method for preparation-

  • Before making these pakoras, you need to soak the dal in water for about 4-5 hours. Then grind it finely in a mixer grinder.
  • After grinding, add salt, red chili powder, chopped green chilies, crushed dry coriander, fennel seeds. Beat this mixture for a while until it becomes smooth. Do add water according to the consistency of the batter/mixture.
