Some people can work well by eating 2000 calories per day, whereas others might need more than that. It depends on person to person when it comes to sensitive topics like calorie and water intake. A lot of people feel more dehydrated than others, and for them, drinking more than eight glasses of water a day is compulsory. There is no scientific study to strongly suggest that eight glasses of water is the gospel thumb rule that everyone has to follow.

* Water In Different Forms
The amount of water one needs is also hugely dependent upon the design of one's diet. There are a lot of fruits and vegetables that come with a high amount of natural hydration. Any person whose diet is filled with such fruits and vegetables doesn't need to drink a lot of water additionally. Beverages like milk and coconut water also help in quenching one's thirst. Eating fruits like watermelon that have more than 91% water content helps restore the hydration of the body very well.
In this case, one won't feel very dehydrated and thirsty and can very well do with 5 to 6 glasses of water a day. However, if one's diet is devoid of any natural source of water in food or other beverages that they drink, then it is important to have at least 7 to 8 glasses of water regularly. People who do not get water from their food will have to drink more water to keep their bodies healthy. As per Harvard Health, an average of 15.5 cups of water for men is enough regularly. For women, the optimal quantity is 11.5 cups regularly. It is important to take into consideration that this is the presumed and average quantity. One doesn't necessarily have to stick by it as everyone's diet and routines are different.

Why Is It Important To Hydrate
Now, as much as everyone knows the importance of drinking enough water, not a lot of times do people get into the ‘why’ of it. There is a lack of knowledge and awareness of hydration among people, which is why most people are not able to maintain this habit. Here are the top reasons why it is important to hydrate oneself from time to time.
* Promotes Absorption of Nutrients
Drinking a good amount of water helps in the better absorption of a lot of nutrients and minerals. Water helps in making all the food that we eat more accessible to different parts of the body. As per the National Institutes of Health, water also helps in improving the metabolism of the body. It provides a sympathetic stimulus to the body that accelerates the metabolic rate. Thus it helps in both better absorption and digestion of the food in the body.

* Flushes Out Toxins
Drinking more water helps in flushing out toxins more easily from the body. The toxins are released into the body in the form of sweat and urine. By eliminating the harmful toxins, one can see an instant change in their skin and also the quality of their hair. This is the reason why most dermatologists recommend that people suffering from skin-related problems increase their water intake.

* Delivers Oxygen
As per the National Institutes of Health, more than 90% of blood plasma is made up of water. Only 10% of the blood plasma is made up of different dissolved substances. Blood is responsible for transporting different oxygen, minerals, and nutrients to all the parts of the body. Since most of the blood plasma is made from water, it is pretty obvious that water is responsible for transporting oxygen to different parts of the body.
* Avoids Digestive Problems
A lot of functions of the digestive system are dependent upon the consumption of water. Not drinking enough water can lead to problems like constipation, acidity, and even heat burn. This is the reason why it is extremely important to take care of one's hydration and drink enough water so that one doesn't have to face these serious problems.
