International Coffee Day is celebrated every year on the 1st of October to pay homage to the world’s most beloved beverage. While coffee has been a popular wake-up drink across the globe, as time passed, coffee beans are no longer restricted to being just a cup of expresso. Be it desserts like Tiramisu, icy drinks like Frappucino, or even cocktails, coffee connoisseurs can enjoy the taste in a wide variety of drinks and dishes.

If you like to experiment with cocktails or mocktails on a weekend, making coffee cocktails to celebrate International Coffee Day would be just perfect. To get you some of the tried and tested recipes, Slurrp interviewed mixologists across the country. So, get your shakers ready and try these coffee-infused cocktails at home.

Coffee Martini By Kuber Bhatt, Sr Bartender At The Bluebop Cafe

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml Vodka
  • 30 ml Freshly brewed espresso (or strong coffee)
  • 30 ml Coffee liqueur
  • 15 ml Simple syrup (optional, depending on sweetness preference)
  • Ice cubes as desired
  • Coffee beans (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Brew the espresso and let it cool slightly. If using coffee, ensure it’s strong.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso (and simple syrup if you like it sweeter) to the shaker.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is chilled and frothy.
  5. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
  6. Garnish with three coffee beans for a classic touch.

Iced Coffee Martini By Kashyap Salla, Co-Founder Of Zyto 

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml Vodka
  • 30 ml cold brew coffee
  • 15 ml coffee liqueur
  • 10 ml maple syrup (or honey)
  • Ice cubes
  • Coffee beans for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Shake all ingredients with ice in a shaker.
  2. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
  3. Garnish with a few coffee beans on top.

Blended Awakening By Jittin Merani, Co-Founder Of Glenwalk

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml Whiskey
  • 30 ml Expresso shot
  • 10 ml Chocolate syrup
  • 3 dashed orange bitters
  • Ice cubes
  • Coffee beans for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Mix whiskey, expresso shot, and chocolate syrup in a shaker.
  2. Add orange bitters and chill the cocktail with ice cubes. 
  3. Double strain over ice.
  4. Garnish with coffee beans or dehydrated orange slices.

Wake Me Up By Varun Sudhakar, Mixologist At Blabber

Ingredients:

  • 30 ml Strawberry syrup
  • 30 ml Expresso shot
  • 30 ml Tonic
  • 10 ml Coconut syrup
  • Cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Shake strawberry syrup, expresso shot, and coconut syrup together.
  2. Double strain and top up with tonic.
  3. Garnish with cocoa powder and serve chilled.
