Indulging in freshly roasted corn while basking at the seaside can evoke a nostalgic culinary experience. But do you know that the husk of cork possesses numerous health benefits that surpass those of the maize kernels? Incorporating nutrient-rich and antioxidant-packed ingredients into your evening tea can provide a plethora of health benefits. Corn silk boasts a plethora of essential nutrients, including potassium, calcium, and an array of vitamins such as B2, C, and K.

Tea produced from corn silk is a herbal infusion that gets its name from the silky strands that grow on corn ears. Many people believe in its therapeutic potential. A few advantages of drinking corn silk tea are as follows:

Corn silk tea has been used for centuries because it is a powerful diuretic that can help the body get rid of extra water and toxins, resulting in a noticeable loss of waist circumference. This is a great strategy for those who need to shed extra pounds in less time since it helps to minimise health problems brought on by water retention. Long-term use of diuretics is helpful in treating numerous health problems, including renal disease and congestive heart failure.

Corn silk has been shown to enhance urinary output and reduce renal sedimentation, both of which can lead to the production of kidney stones if left untreated. This, however, needs to be done under the supervision of a competent medical professional.

Those with blood sugar difficulties can benefit from drinking corn silk tea. The effect corn silk extract had on diabetes was demonstrated in a 2012 study published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules. Corn silk polysaccharides were applied to diabetic laboratory rats, and the results showed a significant decrease in blood sugar.

Antioxidants included in corn silk may help prevent free radicals from damaging cells and causing oxidative stress in the body. Overall health can be bolstered and the danger of developing chronic diseases can be lowered with the help of antioxidants.
