Actor Vicky Kaushal rang his 34th birthday in New York City. He was joined by his wife and actor Katrina Kaif. Not only is he having a gala time with his wife in NYC, the Sardar Udham actor also reunited with his college friends there, and the whole gang celebrated Vicky’s birthday together. Vicky also had a 2-course brunch menu curated specially for him. Katrina posted Vicky’s picture with the menu, the menu comprised mains such as loaded burgers and pancakes and yummy desserts. Katrina also posted a picture of her stack of pancakes from the Clinton St. Baking Company.  We also found a better view of the brunch through a story reposted by Vicky’s friend Amol. Here the gang can be seen seated at a huge table enjoying their grub of omelettes, salads, pancakes, milkshakes and whatnot.

Drooling much, so are we. We love the idea of brunches, the whole idea of eating at your leisure and watching the day go by. As most of you would know the word ‘brunch’ is made with a combination of the words ‘breakfast’ and ‘lunch’. Therefore, you get quite a luxury to experiment with a few dishes, maybe include both breakfast and a few lunch staples. The key is to make it flavourful, fun and satiating and not too heavy on the tummy.

If you are planning to host a brunch at your place. Here are some of our picks you can add to your menu.

1. Pancakes: Soft and fluffy pancakes coming your way in 3,2,1... Made with flour, sugar, baking powder, buttermilk and eggs, these yummy pancakes go best with maple syrup. Alternatively, you could also pair it with chocolate spread, fresh blueberries or chopped mangoes.

2. Bruschetta: This Italian starter is just ideal to be served in a  large group. Mini toasted breads topped with olive oil cherry tomatoes and cilantro. Just keep a tray of this easy-peasy snack in the centre of the table, sit back and relax.

3. Idly Fry: Bring a little Indo-fusion tadka to the brunch. This recipe is an ideal way to use up those leftover idlis. Chop them up roughly and toss it with soy sauce, ketchup, chillies, pepper et al for this fiery and sensational snack.

4. Chicken momos: You may have had a lot of dimsums in your Sunday brunches, but now try momos. Both are dumplings, but there’s something more homely about momos don’t you feel. Sheet of maida or whole wheat flour stuffed with spicy and juicy chicken filling, folded, sealed and steamed till perfection. Pair it with spicy tomato-garlic chutney and chomp away.

For desserts, you can keep a variety of options like cut fruits, parfait, waffles, sorbet etc. Try these ideas and let us know which ones you loved the best.
